Wow, African American voted overwhelmingly for Obama? Who knew?
Actually, I would not have guessed Obama averaged just over 50% of the votes in districts with no African Americans.
How is that surprising? Yes, overall the white vote is usually 60-40 in favor of Reps, but Allegheny County is a very blue county, so it makes sense it'd be closer to 50/50.
The overall white vote in Allegheny County would have to be quite a bit above 50/50 for the districts with no African Americans to show 50/50 for Obama. Also, I would expect that those who live in districts with no African Americans are self-selected to be more strongly Republican than your average Allegheny County white guy.
I'd also highlight the big spread--a near 0% AA district could have been anything from about 25% to about 80% for Obama.
