Veterans's Day

Time for a deep breath. The election really is over. As important as these things are, there other important things out there. Such as.....

Veteran's Day is coming. The parade is tomorrow, but it really is about the people. The video below is of a local veteran and provided by http://pittsburgheldersguild.blogspot.com/

We should be observing this holiday now more than ever. This weekend is the time to be thinking about issues confronting our troops and their families. A good way to get involved is to check out the the Wounded Warrior Project. It's a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness for U.S. troops severely wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. It really puts a face on the cost of this conflict. Here's a link:

Thanks for sharing this Chris.

Bob will be included as part of the WQED book of local WWII veterans' stories that's being pulled together after the showing of "The War" on PBS.

On the night before The War series originally aired, Bob came down to listen to a WQED radio broadcast of other local stories (thinking his might be included). It wasn't, but afterwards - as the radio played the soundtrack in the background - Bob told some of his stories about flying over "The Hump" in the China Burma India theatre and I got in on film. See here: Geriatric Fellow

By the way, Bob came down today and I showed him your post. He was happy to see it.

Here is a bunch of stories on the WQED website.
