Happy Anniversary City Wage Tax

Mentioned last year, maybe we will make this an annual event: today is the anniversary of city council approving the wage tax in the city of Pittsburgh.

So, if I combine two of your posts into one idea, the sensible thing might be to move into the city after buying a house for under $18,000 in Clariton. Let's say you could find one for $15,000, and you make $50,000 in taxable wages each year. If your address was in Pittsburgh, you would pay $1,500 in wage taxes each year. So in just 10 years time -- probably less, since your wages are likely to increase by a modest amount each year -- you will have already recouped the cost of you Clariton house.
