Pittsburgh vs. Philly

No, not hockey; Wi-Fi.

News is that the Philadelphia experiment with city Wi-Fi service is on the verge of collapse. Given that general trend across the country, and given the circuitous route of Pittsburgh's Downtown Wi-Fi... you have to give some credit where due. However they have done it, the free Downtown Wi-Fi was still working pretty well.

Does that count as something else we are beating Philly at these days?

Free Downtown Wi-Fi, in my own experience and in the experience of several others I've asked, is not working very well at all. You can only seem to get a signal on every other city block, and even once a signal is established the connection protocol is buggy, and even THEN the signal seems to fade in and out according to prevailing winds. Whenever possible I go to a Brueggers or the Omni Starbucks to do my business.
