Do any local institutions have something like this online? Kind of neat is the online dashboard for the Indianapolis Museum of Art. It's not always practical, but I bet if we each had an energy dashboard like that for our homes we would be more conscious of what energy we are using.

I find duquesne light's to be pretty good, but you do have to log in.

Then write your state senator. The Rendell Administration has been trying to pass a law that would require the state's elecrtric companies to install instant read meters that would tell us how much electricity we are using at any given moment along with the cost. As you might imagine, the cost of a Kwh at 3 am is considerably cheaper than 3 pm--though we are charged equally today. Studies have shown that people cut back use overall and shift use to non-peak hours (by, for example, setting the diswasher to run overnight) when they know their use. /the legislation has passed the state house 2 years in a row, but has been blocked by friends of the utilities in the Senate.
