Ok.. I should at least have better idea why this is, but I don't have a quick answer. But read this press release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics last week
. It says that Westmoreland County ranks #1 in terms of the percentage increase of average weekly wages over the last year. #1 across the nation among all large counties! Ranking #1 could be just a reflection of how bad things are everywhere else, but +14.9% is good in and of itself. That would be a good showing in the best of times.. let alone the best of times in a Pittsburgh context.
That and I am a bit annoyed in that it describes Westmoreland County as 'near Pittsburgh'. Depends on your definition of Pittsburgh I suppose, is it not part of Pittsburgh?
