2nd home Pittsburgh?

Have no idea who this is, but a blog post out there has a note from someone buying a 2nd home in Pittsburgh for no reason other than they like it here.. and as an investment it seems. It's interesting in that it appears the author has no other direct connection to the city, but they don't elaborate too much on it. I feel I should be able to place that parcel just from the picture, but can't quite figure it out exactly. Lawrenceville somewhere? But there is a new argument in there for attracting out of town investment in our real estate: can't do worse than your 401K of late.

I'm in the market for a house in Lawrenceville and I remember looking at that one... Near the church at 53rd and Carnegie, iirc. It's a cute little place.

Wow, this guy has an eye for development. Read his Sept 1997 account of the Strip District.

"...One particular building here just sent me into fits of ecstasy for some reason. It was formerly the Armstrong Cork factory, and is now abandoned and just waiting to be taken over. Too bad that it will probably be ruined by some developer who will clean it up and make it all nice and pretty for new upscale tenants. But I love it as is it is, in all its faded glory..."
