You think biking up that hill is hard.

And yet another French-related post. Ok, this idea obviously needs work and I know its been a tough slog just to get bike lanes painted on some avenues in the city. But Pittsburgh has to be the best city in the world to experiment with this device: Le CycloCable. Imagine getting up Sycamore St. without a sweat:

I just want to imagine getting up Stanton (from the South) without a sweat.

Still, sure, let's put these on Forbes (away from town) and Fifth (toward town) through the lower Hill, and rent and collect bikes at both ends. The ultimate in really light rail.

They have those "bicycle lifts" in Norway and Sweden. Some require a nominal toll.

You are a Pittsburgher who has been to Norway? Are you Bill Peduto?

I bet if you set them up to go at random speeds, you could get passers-by to pay the toll.
