Stu Says

Stu is everywhere. Not only a long one on one interview on CNN, there is also a leading quote in the New York Times both on the state of the national economy.

More on the Detroit/Pittsburgh competition off the ice from the AP: Pittsburgh, Detroit can learn much from each other. And MH points out that the Onion has the only possible explanation for the Penguins' performance yesterday.

An interesting twist on the "Pittsburgh teaching Detroit" meme by Howard Fineman of Newsweek.

The Fineman has a somewhat interesting premise--that what worked in Pittsburgh won't work in Detroit and other cities--but boy is his supporting rationale laced with gooey cliches and weak arguments. For example:

"And that, above all, has been the key to the city's survival: pride in and commitment to local education. The city school system avoided the kind of collapse that faced other urban centers; schools in surrounding suburbs of Allegheny County have risen in stature. This was largely a local choice, with local and state money."

What a jumble.
