United States vs. Cyril

In re: The United States v. Cyril Wecht

Just what I said earlier. I'm serious, Cyril connects us all.

Your earlier post wondered about why Buchanan hasn't been replaced yet. I'm pretty sure that the last U.S. atty, Harry Litman, wasn't replace until the fall of Bush's first term. Today's announcement probably signals that the end is very near for Mary Beth. All in all, an ignominious tenure in public service. She'll be remembered for Cheech and Chong, the XXX prosecution and losing Cyril. May she do no harm in the private sector, and decline any overtures to run for Congress.

Actually, Litman stepped down in April, there was an interim USA, then Buchanan was sworn in in September. So maybe she should have left a couple months ago, saved some face and energized her end of Grant Street. I doubt anyone's working very hard on her behalf in the federal prosecutor's office these days.

And don't forget the Murphy prosecution that fizzled. Wecht, Murphy, Tommy Chong--what a waste of taxpayer money.
