Speaking of naming things

Should have caught this myself.  ER passes on an item from the Navy Times yesterday that there will be a ship named for the late John Murtha.

Said to be a San Antonio class amphibious transport dock (LPD).  Would make it a ship that will look like this. Neat ship.

It needs an anchor. Unless that's a metaphor for the Murtha legacy.

There is an anchor in there.. they say it's designed to be housed up inside the hull to minimize the radar cross section... but I can't imagine you can stealth a ship built like that. They probably just liked the idea of being able to paint the anchor all the time without having the bosun mates hanging over the side.

but of course the metaphor explanation is a better story.
