Parking elasticity

Parking fines doubled....  city expects revenue to double.  There is this little thing called price elasticity.  There could be data here for a great natural experiment.  Oh, nevermind.

I still want to know how this all works with a privatized meter....   Who gets the ticket fee if you are parked at a privatized meter?  I really don't know.

Gotta run, I better go check my meter.

It looks funny, but I suppose some of the fines may have more than doubled. Also, this doesn't fit with the article's text, but given that the city gets a huge cut of what people pay to park legally, more enforcement ought to increase the regular parking revenue.

City continues to get ticket fee at privatized meter - after the privatized parking court takes it cut of course.

Principal-agent problems everywhere in all of this.

Will these privatized meter maids still be allowed to park in 'no parking' zones or not pay meters like the city's current ticket writers?
