Race in Pittsburgh

My colleagues over in Social Work have been working hard for some time putting together their national Race in America conference which started today and that you may have seen mentioned in some local news stories.

Like it or not, it's hard getting around one factoid that the region here is pretty much the least diverse in the nation.   Don't take it from me.  Here is a benchmarking from American Demographics magazine. It's from a few years ago, but I doubt the ordinal ranking has changed that much for us.  That table ranks regions by the proportion of the population that reported themselves as white only. I am pretty sure it is measuing white non-hispanic.  But we are clearly on top.
