SteelerNation dumping tickets?'s SportsMoney blog/column today has the following quote in an article on how raising ticket prices may increase the number of games that do not sell out in the NFL next year and thus cause more games to be blacked out.
Even fans with personal seat licenses (where turnover is typically around 2%) having been dumping their seats in places like Houston, Chicago and Pittsburgh.
Emphasis added there.  Anyone believe that?  Season ticket waiting list for the Steelers is still years-deep I do believe. I am curious what fact or factoid has them thinking Pittsburgh fans are 'dumping' seats.

They didn't say Pittsburgh strictly-speaking, just cities like Pittsburgh. So maybe they meant Cleveland, Cincinnati &or Detroit, y'know, our usual Rust Belt benchmarking suspects. They probably just wrote "Pittsburgh" in the NFL story for search engine optimization.

A level of semantic parsing that is akin to debating what 'is' is.

and of course with Pittsburgh exceptionalism being what it is, we all know there are no other places 'like' Pittsburgh anyway.

A lot of the PSL dumping might have to do with the Ben Roethlisberger fiasco.
