Daily Marcellus

Each important to us in and of themselves:

But for some real perspective on it all.  An amazing read for anyone who thought the boom or day trading was something new.  This comes from here if you want to read the full article:

Here's another story on moving NGLs to refineries as Enbridge is building a line from W pa to Chicago"

And check this out". Scroll down to "Hedging and Realized Prices" and you will see that Range hedged its selling price and is making quite the nice profit on gas.

And here's a possible income source for the Allegheny Sewer Authority. They could sell water to any drilling operation in the area thus saving water withdrawals from streams and rivers. And maybe the money could be earmarked to fixing the huge storm water runoff problem that has been a huge issue for decades.

And last, I and my neighbors have joined a group called the Mt Jackson group that has 16,500 acres in it and will be auctioned off in an online, live internet auction in December. They have been getting calls from all over the country and it is mainly because of the Utica shale layer.

I saw that, but I think it means something different than you do. Don't you get that Range's hedging success comes from a bet that natural gas prices are going down and staying down. So good for them for the moment, but that only works for a short time. Shows they know their realized price is going down. Can't hedge at those prices any longer. Will be interesting to see how much forward they hedged and what they do going forward.

as for the sewer water resuse.. might want to not the line about that system in Centre county being the "only one" in Pennsylvania. I doubt Alcosan could fund investment to get that up and running here.. even with the potential revenue it might bring from frac water use.

It is becoming obvious that low dry gas prices just mean greater incentive to shift production share to Marcellus rigs. And to shift energy use to gas, and to build Marcellus-related NGL infrastructure, and so on.

Wiz.. I was wondering who it is that gets the commission the Mt. Jackson group is said to charge?

but you really should go work for whomever it is. You must read here more than most everyone else out there. That or just go into social media consulting or something.

C, Briem; There are two lawyers from Washington Pa that put the group together. They have partnered with a company to do the online auction. They are going to share in the commission but I am not privy to the details. But I know they will be wealthy people if they are successful at getting all that land under lease.

Last week I have met with a local law firm in New Castle to look into forming our own agency to represent landowners. This firm has contacts in all states where Marcellus and Utica are commercially viable. Lots of details to work out. Hope to be up and running by year's end.

As for selling water from the treatment plants...I don't know if a reverse osmosis system is required to achieve that level of purity needed for fracing. I have heard of drillers buying water from other plants prior to the State College announcement. I'll see if I can find out more.
