PG plus.... hut
An interesting experiment. I for one never quite got what they thought the potential was to head down a path that the New York Times had given up on. Remember TimesSelect? Though the NYT has announced it was bringing back content behind a paywall in the near future. Try and try again they say. Paywalls exist in online media of course, more typically in some financial publications and some overseas. But Pittsburgh? We all know we're cheap?
But it wasn't a failure. From the meta-media pontificators at Poynter.com is the summary of how they think PG+ is doing: Post-Gazette's Premium PG+ Service Profitable But No 'Holy Grail'
But PG+ has pretty much morphed into a Sports only venue. No big surprise in town here. Most all of the non-sports content that was behind the paywall has straggled over to the free world or has quietly faded away. Hard to believe that does not have some sustainable future in it somewhere. This is Pittsburgh after all. So SteelerNation again comes to the rescue. Even, or especially, in media world.
I guess I will have to shut down the NullSpace+ site as well. the sports guy on staff is pretty inconsistent.
