the shale dialectic

Here is something to ponder.

Marcellus Shale Coalition says the supply increase is pushing down prices and thus: Marcellus Shale Saving Pennsylvanians Millions in Home Heating Costs

Yet at the same time you can look at the data yourself and see that wholesale natural gas prices in Pennsylvania are some of the highest.  Note that is the commodity cost, so little to do with the last mile delivery cost resulting from your local utilities which is another issue. Check out how Pennsylvania compares to our very nearby neighbor Ohio.  Funny also I don't see anything in that press release any mention that some local natural gas customers saw their commodity charges go up in the most recent adjustment.

I also have really been wondering something else.  Is the shale industry going to boycott all of New York State because of their statewide moratorium.  Seems only fair since they are on record wanting their members to boycott the City of Pittsburgh.  Seems to me the NY moratorium is a slightly bigger deal.  Are drillers going to be told to cease buying supplies and services from New York state just like Pittsburgh is supposedly going to be punished with withdrawn conference and meeting business?

Over at Dewey & Kaye's, the MSC is searching for a few spin doctors. The Coalition needs all the help it can get.

It's kind of funny how many people have emailed me a note about those new job postings.

Probably says something about your readers that we all get the D&K low-pay--I mean, non-profit--job newsletter.
