Gas vs. Coal

Wiz man... take a break.  Grill a hot dog on that big NatGas grill or something.  Give the 2nd shift the weekend off.

But if you insist on reading, the peanut gallery would be interested in your take on the WSJ's: Obama Burns Gas Drillers on Ozone.

Always expect the unexpected eh?  Don't worry, I'm sure it will not abate the near term Marcellus (and Utica) rush, but it is the type of thing that will clearly have an impact on natural gas futures... which you would think would be capitalized into the value of the leases and eventually royalities.

Makes for some interesting politics in the Greater Appalachian Basin.  When do gas politics outweigh coal politics?

The regulations will come as scheduled, but the Administration has simply forgone the option to enforce "draft" regulations at this time.

Call it a stay of execution. Locally, AEP sees the writing on the wall. Dunno about Allegheny Energy, as they just had a nexgen coal plant come online in maidsville.

Educated guess has state and federal folks playing ball with midstream developers over the next few years to convey our new found resources to AEP stations along the Ohio. Of all the electrical power generators in the Ohio Valley, they seem keenly located. Though, with all the capital exhausted recently to meet existing coal-fired emissions standards, converting plants less than 10 years on will make for interesting shareholder meetings.

I don't think that the peanut gallery really cares about my take. But here it is anyway;

This is a great example of what is wrong with our economy. Government policy is so inconsistent that no business can develop a two year business plan let alone a five yr plan. This admin is flailing about desperately because they have no idea how a business or the economy operates. And the economy is suffering from the whiplash.

Of course, none of it matters because Pres Palin will straighten it all out in 18 months.

Gotta go cook.... I use oak and hickory with an apple spice log to roast my pterodactyl legs.

Have a great day celebrating what made America great...American workers.
