How many natural gas vehicles are there in Pennsylvania?

Seems like a simple question doesn't it.  All the talk, buzz and policy swirling around the future of natural gas you would think someone would have information on the total number of natural gas vehicles currently in use in Pennsylvania.  I could not easily find anyone with a guestimate even which I thought is strange.  Can anyone find what I missed?  Even an estimate would be something.

That was inspired by this article in the Economist recently on some international benchmarking of natural gas vehicle usage by country.  I simplify the infographic into something that is surprising. My question is how big would Pennsylvania's dot be if we had the data?  Big enough for screen resolution to show?

This post is really a test to see if Wiz's 3rd shift is awake yet.

3rd shift reporting for duty.

I have a friend In Franklin that converts vehicles to nat gas, both LNG and CNG and installs home compressor units. He also announced he is putting in a natgas fueling station in Brookville Pa. Brookville is halfway between Chicago and NYC so a trucker can make the entire trip with one refueling stop. I will see if he can fulfill your quest for this information. Perhaps he even knows of a person or two driving a privately owned nat gas vehicle in Pittsburgh.

That was a very good article that shows how the nat gas revolution will impact every aspect of the economy and strengthen our country. Thanks for posting it.

FYI, a gas company (not sure which one; not Consol) has created a subsidiary to open natgas fueling stations that also see gasoline. The flagship store will be on the South Side, at the old Rennekamp site. They are going for a very modern, progressive vibe, complete with a 2-story store/cafe that will include an atrium and a green roof.

And get this: they will be compressing gas onsite - no deliveries, except for gasoline. They're reusing the same gas line that the old plant used for firing their concrete block equipment.

I had a private nat gas vehicle from 1999 to 2007. The filling station at the Highland Park bridge in Aspinwall closed and the station under the 10th St bridge on South Side closed. At that point the only station open to the public left in the city was on Beaver Ave. Too bad the car was a mediocre Ford Contour and the transmission started having problems. This vehicle was converted by a third-party in Canade for Ford and I bought it from Ford already converted. It has a nat gas tank that had a range of about 95 miles, and a full-size gasoline tank, and would switch while driving if you ran out of CNG. You can get this bi-fuel option on Ford F150 trucks if I'm not mistaken.
